It’s no doubt the sudden death of my father hit me hard, and I’ve found myself dumbfounded, asking myself again what this life is all about.
The past few days have been very challenging for me and it has kept me wondering what life is about in the first place. By now, I believe you must have known about the passing away of my beloved father but if you don’t, now you do; hence the reason for this topic.
If you know me well, you would know that I’m a kind of person that thinks so deeply before taking actions, especially when such action could have a long term effect. Thinking about death is not new to me because such thoughts have helped form my way of life. I’ve always known life is vanity but then we keep thriving to be successful and purpose driven while the journey lasts. What kept coming to my mind many years ago were questions: how can I be of impact to my people? What is my purpose of being here on earth? How can I fulfil destiny and ensure that I live my life to the fullest? What would I be remembered for? What can I give to life?
In no doubt, some of these questions gave birth to The Jewel Empowerment Foundation. About 10 year ago, this vision came and we have gone all out to give and still give to the less privileged children and youths of Nigeria, through education, youth empowerment seminars, back to school materials, entrepreneurial and skills training, food donations and many more… This effortless act brought about my personal slogan- “living my life for humanity”. I later realized that this compassionate nature and sincere love for humanity is a household thing and it’s one great trait I inherited from my father. My dad was an active Board of Trustees of The Jewel Empowerment Foundation and he supported me wholeheartedly till his death. I have found fulfilment doing my charity works and I don’t see myself stopping.
Today, I need you to think about this life you’re living. I need you to answer honestly to these questions; Are you purpose driven? What are you actually living for? What legacy do you want to leave behind? What do you want to be remembered for? How far do you want to go with your life? What level of impact do you want to make? If you need to start something, what would that be and can you start now? There is no better time other than now to follow that dream of yours; take up that new role, apply for that course or Programme; challenge yourself to be better and always strive for excellence. Devote quality time to your family life to make it work, just do all you can to ensure each day draws you closer to the actualization of your dream and self fulfillment.
Death is inevitable, and one day, we will say goodbye to this world. Sometimes, bearing this in mind may not want you to attain anything in life but no, you must make a difference regardless of death. Jesus died at age 33, and he’s still a great force to reckon with today. Why not look inward today and turn a new leaf to make your life journey better… If the journey is becoming or seems boring, why not spice it up with new friendships, hobbies, skills or a change of location? Life is 100% what you make up of it. Put in conscious effort to be happy and enjoy every moment of it. Do away with any form of negativity as much as possible. Infact, life is a privilege, and you must maximize every opportunity it brings.
Live a life that younger generations will want to know/read about. Do something significant. Make life happen. Be purpose driven. Be deliberate about the decisions that you take, because everything adds up. Even though this is truly a difficult time for me, I have found strength in God, and He’s all I’ve got and will forever hold on to till my last breath. I pray God guides you towards living a purpose driven life. Cheers!
